Founded in 2004, Neighbor Ride began its mission by providing its very first ride to a resident of Park View at Columbia. Since then, the nonprofit has become a vital resource for the County’s growing senior population, offering safe and reliable transportation to medical appointments, social events, shopping trips and faith activities.

At the anniversary celebration, Neighbor Ride Executive Director Bruce Fulton reflected on the organization’s impactful journey over the past 20 years. He encouraged residents who may not yet be familiar with Neighbor Ride to engage with volunteer drivers present at the event and learn more about the services available. The enthusiasm was palpable with at least three residents signing up for service at the event.

“It’s about the relationships,” said Neighbor Ride Community Outreach Director Colleen Konstanzer highlighting the community connection fostered through the program.

Volunteer drivers are another integral part of Neighbor Ride’s mission. All drivers undergo thorough background checks and training to ensure the safety of the seniors they serve.

Guests enjoyed light refreshments and birthday cake while mingling with Neighbor Ride employees, volunteers and board members. In a fun addition, attendees were invited to share their experiences with the organization on camera for a video reel which will be featured at a larger celebration event later this year.

The celebration doesn’t end here! Neighbor Ride will host a thank you event later this month for residents at Park View at Ellicott City I&II.
