Deck the Halls!

Deck the Halls!

  |     |   Community Story, Event

Creating a sense of community and promoting togetherness amongst neighbors is one of the true meanings of the holiday season. Annually, our residents celebrate by decorating their communities with colorful bulbs, lights, tapestries and stockings. One of our communities left us awestruck by creating a gorgeous tree to be purchased to benefit students, patients and programs for a local non-profit organization.

For the second year in a row, Park View at Dundalk decorated a holiday tree for the Kennedy Krieger Institute's 34th annual Festival of Trees celebration at the Maryland State Fairgrounds. The residents worked diligently together to assemble all the ornaments perfectly on the tree they named “Love Never Melts."

Resident Cynthia Ulrich organized the event and decorated the tree with the assistance of her neighbors Kathy Mantegna, George Nicholson and Donald Wilfong. This year's tree sold for $300.00 and the residents always love to participate in a seasonal activity to give back to the Kennedy Krieger Institute.

Park View at Severna Park felt festive and spent two days decorating the hallways and common areas of their building to bring a bit of holiday cheer to all those who visit. While listening to holiday tunes, they sipped on hot cocoa and snacked on an assortment of desserts.

Maintenance Technician Larry Bowers made the resident's vision of having the exterior decorated come alive. Multicolor lights, Snoopy and the Grinch now greet residents and guests alike at the community entryway. Residents complimented the decorations, saying "now this really feels like home."
