Enterprise Community Development was joined by city and state leaders
today to celebrate the groundbreakings of Legacy at Cedar Lane I & II and The Vision at Parkway, two modern, new affordable housing communities in Columbia, Maryland. Formerly known as Waverly Winds and Ranleagh Court, the redeveloped communities will deliver 205 high-quality, energy-efficient apartment homes to Howard County. These modern, mixed-income developments mark a major milestone in Enterprise’s mission to preserve and expand affordable housing by replacing outdated 1960s-era buildings with vibrant, sustainable communities.
“Today marks the next chapter of our redevelopment efforts in Columbia, the birthplace of Enterprise and the community where James Rouse’s visionary commitment to diversity and inclusion took root,” said Janine Lind, President of Enterprise Community Development. "Legacy at Cedar Lane and The Vision at Parkway represent the kind of thoughtful, forward-looking development needed to ensure every resident has access to a safe, stable, and affordable home.”
Legacy at Cedar Lane and The Vision at Parkway represent a leading-edge mixed-income housing model, with one-third of units reserved for the lowest-income residents, one-third for workforce housing, and one-third offered at market rate, ensuring affordability across a broad income spectrum. The redevelopments represent the second and third phases of a multi-phase redevelopment, following the success of Legacy at Twin Rivers, that will replace 300 aging apartments across a one-mile area of Columbia with approximately 600 new homes.
